as many times as you want, or until you get your desired score.

Absolutely! I took the SAT three times to get the score I wanted for a certain scholarship my college offers. Study hard and don't forget to have fun!

I would recommend not taking them more than three times, for practical reasons. 1) It can get costly after paying about $40 for each time you take the exam. 2) You score won't improve significantly after about the three time taking it. Just study hard and get the scores you want in the first couple of tries. You can then focus your energy on funner things - like the hunt of the perfect college!

I took it twice & still didn't get a good score. I just decided to stop. Some colleges won't reject you if you didn't get a high score. They just consider it. They really look at your academic classes & other stuff. the SAT's is just a plus.

Well, they say that it's really hard to even go up 100 points, so good luck with that! I just say keep studying.

I believe the highest score you can get on the SATs now is a 2400. You can take the SATs as many times as you'd like, but you don't need a perfect score to get into colleges. Try your best and perhaps take an SAT prep class. Good luck! :]

not to advertise but i used one of the kaplan books and got 70 points higher... a lot of it has to do with studying the types of questions and how to answer them, i took it twice and was happy, it does get expensive... also about 50% do about the same and on each section there is an approximate 8 pt increase/ decrease each time you take it... good luck!

You should take the SAT about two times. First time of taking the SAT in your junior year and second time of taking the SAT in your Senior Year.

We have SAT prep classes BUT those who have taken it say it's not that helpful, they say it's a waste of $300,[:@] so anyone know where I can get some study material?

Why are those SAT Prep Classes like "The Princeton Review" and "Kaplan" are not helpful?[8|]

It depends how much you put into those prep classes. The biggest complaint I hear from advanced students is that the classes go over material they already know (or think they know), since, at least for Kaplan, it's not as if the classes are broken up into levels or anything. The classes just cover everything that's on the exam, and that includes subjects they expect you to know (hence why it's on the exam).
I actually took Kaplan twice. It was useful just in understanding the format of the test the first time, but I didn't really pay all that much attention to it. Because I was taking the exact same course again, it was free the second time, although I thought that it wouldn't help at all. Between this and the fact that I was enrolled in four courses related to writing and literature the second time I took the exam, my score improved by 140 points, mostly in the writing section.

Is it necessarily true that if you skip some questions in each section your score will increase?

Only if you have no idea what the answer is. 1/4 of a point is subtracted for each incorrect answer, whereas no credit is either subtracted or added for a blank one.
