Who would do this program? I'm interested in Howard and Florida University because they give you the chance to do this and it seems super cool! What do you guys think? I don't want to have to go to a school and take something other than pre-med, but I also don't want to have that to be my primary major . Unfortunately I have yet to find a school that offers pre-med and something else as a dual major. :Sigh...:

I'm assuming that a 6-7 year accelerated program includes a medical degree which seems to be a great way to get into a residency program earlier. It typically takes 4 years for undergraduate and another 4 years of medical school. Be warned that being a pre-medical student is a tremendous effort let alone being in medical school. If you are truly passionate about being a doctor then this sounds like a great program but if you're looking for a "back up" major I would advise not doing this program. I believe that most successful pre-med students are very focused on the task at hand and that's getting into medical school.

I absolutely agree with RedSprouts. But if you are still looking for colleges offering dual majors, try colleges that don't offer premed as a major directly. For instance, I'm personally applying to UCLA because they have a great program that directs you into the fields of medicine in which I major in Cellular Biology along with other majors such as Philosophy or Psychiatry. Basically private schools offer premed programs in order to prepare you straight for medical school, but some other good public schools offers majors that direct you into medical school and also offers other majors along with it. Hope that helped. =]
