First of all, I'm not dissing community college. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. It's a great opportunity to get an education and it's a lot cheaper than other colleges, which is why my dad really, really wants me to go to one. He says that I should spend my first couple of years there and get my basic credits first. Here's the thing- I don't want to. I've worked hard through high school and even junior high so that I could get accepted into a good college and get the entire experience. I want to room on campus, live away from home, and I can't help but think that commuting from home at a community college would feel too much like high school to me. Community college is a great option, but it's not for me. Unfortunately, my dad, and most of the rest of my family, doesn't see it that way, and he's the one who I really want approval from.
This was basically a mini-rant, but I want to know what you all think about community college versus private/state college.

This sounds a lot like something my friend is going through right now. His sister was forced into a community college last year and they want to do the same thing this year. If he wants to go to a local state school, he has to pay for it himself. This coming from his dad who went to my absolute dream school (Think Irish). And I personally think that's insane! If he doesn't want to go to community college, why should he. Like I told my parents (and my mom agreed) I'm the one who has to go, at least let me go where I want!

:D I agree. I don't think I'll be getting into my dream school, but my parents might settle for a state school. I've gotten him to visit some, at least.
... actually, you live really close to my dream school if you live in New Castle. Westminster. xD

I agree with what you said. Community college is a nice option but the 4-year school gives you a more complete education. I think someone who attends a 4-year college would be more likely to recieve a good job offer versus someone who attended a 2-year college for the same major.
